How can PERTE and Indiva SaaS digitalize and optimize the water cycle in Spain?

Spain wastes 650 billion liters of water annually, with some autonomous communities exceeding 60% in supply loss.

To address this challenge, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge is focusing on projects for water cycle digitalization within the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (PERTE).

What does the PERTE for water cycle digitalization entail?

The plan involves 3.06 billion euros in public and private investments, expected to create around 3,500 quality jobs. These investments will fund programs to protect the environment, improve water resource management, and combat climate change.

On August 2nd, the Ministry published the guidelines for the second call for grants for the digitalization of the urban water cycle.

A total of 200 million euros is allocated in this call, which ends on December 13, 2023. The goal is to foster digitalization projects covering high supply, distribution, sanitation, and purification, aiming to enhance water usage knowledge, reduce losses, improve system efficiency, optimize energy expenditure, and promote transparency and communication with citizens and public/private entities involved in the urban water cycle. The initiative also includes measures to assist operators and service holders in complying with and adapting to new regulatory challenges in water management. These actions are crucial in the context of the country’s ongoing drought.

Indiva SaaS from Fisotec, your ally in efficient sanitation network management

Fisotec, an engineering consulting firm specializing in developing High Technical Qualification inventory solutions based on GIS, BIM, digital twins, and Artificial Vision, has over 15 years of experience in urban environment management, particularly in digitalizing and inventorying infrastructure and water network data. Fisotec utilizes both open-source GIS tools like QGIS and proprietary tools like Esri’s ArcGIS: «We collect and inventory data, updating water databases, always in tandem with Geographic Information Systems like QGIS and ArcQIS, coordinated with adapted plugins. This is to ensure thorough quality control, aligning client data with various requirements demanded by initiatives like PERTE.»

Furthermore, Fisotec has gone a step further by developing Indiva SaaS. Indiva SaaS not only simplifies the management of urban services (lighting, green areas, sanitation and water networks, etc.) in a single platform tailored for professionals, Public Administrations, maintenance companies, and communities. It also allows for comprehensive service management, saving more than 30% in daily supply bills.
